What is the benefit of giving back?

Amongst many other benefits, did you know that giving back releases endorphins, or those “good feeling” hormones? One 2010 study (Weinstein and Ryan) showed that people experienced happier moods after giving. Without getting too scientific, it simply feels good to know that you’re doing something for somebody else that needs it.

It’s weird how things turn out… At the beginning of last year, I chose to give up my role on the Board of a local charity to allow me to focus on a large-scale project for one of my clients. As the project was coming to an end towards the end of last year, I felt I wanted to get involved with a charity or do something to “give back.” Weirdly enough … I was recommended for a piece of work with a large UK Charitable Organisation which provides care and support to people living with a terminal illness and those close to them. After submitting a proposal to the Organisation, I was delighted to hear that my company was selected for the work.

It is so exciting and rewarding to begin this month by launching the customised programme for them.

Many thanks to Nick Sellers for informing me about the work. As they say, “don’t underestimate the power of networking!” If you are looking for an Executive Coach, I would thoroughly recommend Nick.
