Why is business readiness important?

Business readiness is important in ensuring the business is prepared for the change, as well as recognising the support required for the user experience once the change is implemented. A recent example that I am delighted to share is as follows.

During lockdown, a client who heads up a function (with around 230 employees) within a leading Scottish University recognised the need to adapt their business operating model when transitioning back into the workplace. Furthermore, the Client saw this as an opportunity for her senior leadership team to reflect on the impact of Covid-19 – how this may have changed their customers’ requirements and to develop her senior leadership team’s strategic skills.

The Client contacted me to assist. Following a consultation with the Client, I designed a bespoke Strategic thinking, planning and implementation programme to provide her leadership team with the opportunity to apply some of the models, templates and questions to consider to their work practice. To add, I designed a ‘Resource pack’/ reference guide for the team to refer to depending on their needs regarding strategic planning and implementation.

As a result of the programme, the team were better prepared for when lockdown restrictions were lifted as they had a plan of how to operate their relevant service area. Consequently, being ‘business ready’ meant the senior leadership team was able to operate quicker and more efficiently.
